The artist will show 52 unique images consisting of drawings and photographic cut-outs made in his studio over the course of the past 5 years.
They are presented as a grid and consist of photographs, drawings on paper and prints on acetate sheets. Serving as metonymic motors these images are tools used to generate narrative.
The slide-show, Okhla Mandi, is displayed within this constellation. Mandi in Hindi refers to a trading-hub or a market, generally for agricultural produce.
Okhla is the name of the area in New Delhi where this farmer’s market is situated.
Soi recorded images of people involved in the act of carrying, weighing, buying and selling
of vegetables. The performative nature of this market space and its linked metaphor, the distribution of capital, are underlined within this work.
Finally, the artist will present a performance in 3 short acts that address,
within the context of his work, the subject of labour, the link between body & architecture
and lastly, through the lens of a family history, a short story of globalization.

Praneet Soi (b. 1971, Calcutta) lives and works between Amsterdam and Calcutta.
